1 in rare cases,both ovaries can produce eggs and get fertilized.twins can be identical if one zygote divides into 2 parts after fertilization.they can be different if 2 different eggs are fertilized with 2 different sperms.

2.frogs do this so that there are chances of atleast some eggs getting fertilized. refer textbook.

3.egg cell is the female gamete where as fertilized egg is the zygote that can develop into a complete organism.
