Anything held at a height when release will fall towards the Earth because there is an force which attracts everything to the Earth's surface. And this force is called the force of Gravity.

If a stone held in our hands is released, it falls towards the earth because of the gravitational attraction between the two bodies. Actually both the sone and the earth attract each other but as the earth has greater mass, the stone gets attracted by the earth.

THIS HAPPENS BECAUSE OF THE GRAVITATIONAL FORCE EXERTED BY THE EARTH WHICH PULLSAN OBJECT TOWARDS THE EARTH. THE OTHER REASON IS FREE FALL OF AN OBJECTAND YES ANOTHER REASON IS THE MASS OF THE STONE IS VERY LESS THAN OUR EARTH
