give reason why a cricket ball , not very heavy , but when thrownnat a very high speed hurts the batsman

Because ball at very high speed having larger momentum. So the ball hurts the batsman.

momentum = mass velocity.

Force= mass * acceleration

Hence, force depends on two things-mass and acceleration.

SO, though if the mass is less,if it is thrown with a high acceleration, the force will be high and will, therefore hurt the batsman.

due to high velocity the ball will also have high acceleration.

and as, F=ma, the force would also be high.this is the reason why the ball will hurt the batsman.

 WHEN A CRICKET BALL IS THROWN WITH A VERY HIGH VELOCITY /SPEED THE MOMENTUM OF THE BALL ALSO INCREASES . AS A RESULT OF WHICH THE BATSMAN GETS HURT .THE MOMENTUM IS DIRECTLY PROPROPOTIONAL TO THE MASS AND THE VELOCITY OF ANY OBJECT . HENCE LARGER THE mv (PRODUCT OF MASS AND VELOCITY ) WILL BE LARGER THE  p ( momentum )

mathematically ,

                                 p = mv

where , p - MOMENTUM

   m - MASS

   v - VELOCITY

f=m.a

since,

the acce. of the ball is greater,

it hurts the batsman
