We should maximize the use of non-conventional energy resources

Dear Student, The following points may help you: a. Resources are important for the sustenance of human life and also for maintaining the quality of life. Resources are basic requirement for economic development be it land, water, energy resources, minerals. b. Both industrial, agricultural sector require resources to remain functional and to ensure production. c. We have to judiciously use our limited resources and conserve them because of their growing consumption and the potential scarcity. Thus, work towards sustainable development, look for alternatives, use non conventional sources, to bring about conservation of resources. d. We can make use of solar heater, cookers.Use biogas for cooking and lighting. e. We require greater initiative on part of the government to tap non conventional sources of energy. It requires greater awareness on part of the people also. f. Solar energy For example, is fast becoming popular in rural and remote areas which in turn will be able to minimize the dependence of rural households on firewood and dung cakes and supply manure in agriculture. g. Wind energy, bio gas plants though have been set up, they are required to be utilized to the fullest. h. With the increase in population, rising demands, greater industrialization, increased consumption, changes in transportation our energy requirements will increase hence their is an urgent requirement to look for and tap non conventional sources of energy like solar energy which is called Energy of Future, wind energy, geothermal energy. i. For instance,Geothermal energy is the heat and electricity produced from the interiors of the earth. Hot springs which are produced by geothermal heated ground water of the earth's crust which produces steam when it reaches earth's surface can be used to drive turbines and generate electricity. j.Non conventional sources of energy are inexhaustible and renewable. k. They are obtained at low cost and can be used to meet the growing needs of population and industrialization. l. Use of non conventional sources of energy is in tune with objective of sustainable development as it does not cause environmental hazards. m India is blessed with abundance of sunlight, bio mass, wind, water which can serve as alternative to conventional sources of energy. n. Solar energy for example, in India is fast becoming popular in rural and remote areas which in turn will be able to minimize the dependence of rural households on firewood and dung cakes and supply manure in agriculture. o. India also ranks as a “wind super power” in the world. Nagarcoil and Jaisalmer are well known for effective use of wind energy in the country. p. India is also gifted with several hot springs which can be used to generate electricity. One is located in the Parvati valley near Manikarn in Himachal Pradesh and the other is located in the Puga Valley, Ladakh. Regards
