give the nature(racemic or meso)flow chart of synand anti addition of cis and trans alkenes?

This term is used to explain the addition of two ligands from same phase or different phases to alkene or alkyne during the addition reaction. When the ligand is attached from the same face of the multiple bond is called a syn addition; When the ligand is attached from the opposite faces of the multiple bond it is called anti addition.

Example : Syn addition

Hydroboration-oxidation is a reaction which converts alkenes to alcohols. In this reaction hydrogen and hydroxyl groups are added as syn addition that is two ligands OH and H are ttached to the same phase of the product.

Example : Anti-addition
Oxymercuration is the another process in which alkenes get converted to alcohol. But here the addition is anti-addition. The OH and H ligands are attached to opposite phase of product.

The HgOAc group will reduced to H in final step.
