Give two reasons as to why the Thar is a desert area?

It is a desert area because aravalli hills present near that desert obstructs the rainfall of South - west monsoon . Thar desert comes to leeward side receiving low rainfall. It recieves annual rainfall ranging from 100mm to 300 mm which rains in June and September. This makes the weather dry making the area desert.
