Difference between diploid and haploid cells is explained below:
A haploid cell can be defined as a cell which contains one complete set of chromosomes. The chromosomes do not occur in pairs in haploid cell and the haploid chromosomal number is depicted by ‘n’. For example: In humans the haploid number is 23. The sperm and ovum are both haploid cells.
A diploid cell is a cell which contains two complete sets of chromosomes. The chromosomes occur in pairs in diploid cell and the diploid chromosomal number is depicted by ‘2n’. For example: In humans the diploid number is 46.
