Graphical climate and nature affecting human habitat in orissa

Climate change has been affecting people around the world, threatening the basic elements of life – food, water, health and use of land, and the basic environment.
1.In Orissa, the 1999 super cyclone broke the economic backbone of the state. Floods, droughts and heat waves being the constant visitors to State,Orissa has been relatively more vulnerable to climate change over the years. These issues have potentially derailed the growth and deepened poverty in Orissa.
2.For more than a decade now, Orissa has been experiencing contrasting extreme weather conditions claiming many lives . In 1998 , a heat wave in Orissa killed around 1,500 people . Previously , western Orissa was a known major calamity hotspot, but now even the coastal areas are experiencing the same heat waves.
3.Since Orissa is mainly rainfall dependent because the irrigation networks does not support the entire state. The agricultural activities suffers a lot due to climate induced weather changes.
4.Due to the threat caused to the agricultural activities, Food security is also threatened in different parts of Orissa.
