Hans had never been to England but spoke good English. He knew about Dorset and England in school and from books. He said that he knows Dorset very well .Why he had said this?
Hans had read plenty of books and so he knew a lot about England. He could also speak good English. He wanted to spend a comfortable time with Jim and so he shared all this information in order to make Jim feel at ease and comfortable.
