Hasan buys two kinds of cloth materials for school uniforms, shirt material that costs him Rs 50 per metre and trouser material that costs him Rs 90 per metre. For every 2 meters of the trouser material he buys 3 metres of the shirt material. He sells the materials at 12% and 10% profit respectively. His total sale is Rs 36660. How much trouser material did he buy?

cost of 1 meter cloth = Rs 90/-(trouser)

cost of 1 meter of shirt cloth = RS 50/-

let the length of the trouser cloth = 2x

the length of shirt cloth = 3x

cost of trouser cloth = 90*2x

so,profit = 12% of 180x

12/100*180=180x/5

cost of shir4t cloth = 50*3x =150x

so profit =10%150x = 10/100*150 = 15x

given that

108x+150x+108/5x = 36660

1725x+108x =36660*5

x = 3660*5/1883

=100

trouser cloth = 2*100=200

shirt cloth = 3*100 = 300

Let  the cloth purchased for trousers be 2x metre

cloth purchased for shirt material be x metre

the price of trouser material at the rate of Rs.80 per metre = 2x X 80 = 180x

the price of shirt material at the rate of Rs.50 per metre  = 3x X 50 = 150x

S.P of the trouser material he bought at 12 % profit = C.P X {100 + Profit %  } upon  100

 = 180x X {100 + 12} upon 100 = 201.6x

S.P of the shirt material he bought at 10 % profit = C.P X {100 + Profit %  } upon  100

  =  150x X {100 +10} upon 100

 =  165x

According to the question................S.P of trouser material + S.P of shirt material = Rs.36,660

  201.6x + 165x = Rs. 36,660

or  366.6x = Rs. 36,660

or x = 36,660 upon 366.6

or  x = 100

Therefore cloth purchased for trouser material = 2x = 2 X 100 = 200 metre
