Pressure is defined as the force per unit area acting perpendicularly to the surface of the area.
In other words, pressure is nothing but force exerted by one body on a unit area of another body
Mathematically,
Pressure = Force/Area
Its SI units are N/m2 or Pascals.
This means that pressure is inversely proportional to the area of contact. So more the contact area is less pressure will be exerted and vice versa.
A very common example of pressure would be the pressure exerted by the atmosphere due to the weight of the air above us.
