Here it is said that high calorific value , i.e., the amount of energy obtained by burning one kilogram of the fuel should be high and at the same time it is said that Calorific value is defined as the amount of heat energy obtained by burning one gram of a substance. The unit of calorific value is kJ/g . Which is correct?
Dear Student,
since the amount 1g of fuel is very small, we generally measyre the amount of heat released when ikg of fuel is burnt.similarly the gram units if given can be converted into kg unit.generally the unit of calorific value is KJ/Kg.hence both the statements are correct provided with suitable units.
