hi i have a question would u pls solve it for me as my exam is nearing..if u would thx...this is my question ...my class teacher has given me a question...five hundred forty two thousandths and the answer she gave is .542.......but how?? after the decimal poit isint the no. supposed to b read as .five four two ......y did she say like that???

Because she has used thousandths. Whenever hundredth or thousandth or tenths is used, it means it is a Decimal no. The 'ths' at the end is used to differentiate between tens and tenths, hundreds and hundredths, thousands and thousandths.

Hope this helps. Give me thumbs up if you like my answer.
