 (7 + 12) x 2 y

Could you please tell me what are

monomials, binomials and trinomials. And what is polynomials?

Thanks!

When 7x2 y + 12x2 y when taken to like terms changed to (7 + 12) x2 y

Monomials, binomials, trinomials and polynomials are defined as:

Expression containing only one term is called a monomial.
Example: 2x, –3x2, 2xy, etc.

Expression containing only two unlike terms is called a binomial
Example: 2x + 3, 3x2 – 2, – 2xy + 3y2, etc.

Expression with three terms, where the terms are unlike, is called a trinomial.
Example: 2x2 –3x + 1, – 2xy + 5y + 6x, etc.

In general, the expression with one or more terms is called a polynomial.

Hope! This will help you.
Cheers!
