Under British rule, the handicraft industries of India has been badly suffered. The Britishers used their two fold policy which exploited Indian industry. On even of Independence:
1) India was mere a supplier of raw materials to Britishers, who in turn were making their (Britisher) industrial base strong.
2) British government had made India a ready market for sale of their finished goods. By charging high prices, Britishers exploited Indians.
