Hot Questions : Think and answer:

1) Wearing many layers of cotton clothes will keep you as warm in winter as wearing a thick woollen sweater. Why? (Hint : Why does keep you warm?)

2) A news item : 'Silk has come under fire from animal rights activists. Why?

3) Why is a spinneret used to make nylon but is not needed to make cotton or wool fibres?

I believe the answer for the first question should be this:

Many layers of clothes would mean many layers of air trapped around our body. Since air is an insulator of heat, it prevents the heat of our body from escaping into the atmosphere, thus keeping our body warm. Hence many layers of cotton clothes would work just as well as a woollen sweater.

1) In winter wearing anything (mostly thick ) keeps us warm from the cold of the winter.

2) Silk is obtained from silkworm. Hence, due to animal rights activists rearing of silkworms are also reduced and therefore it has reduced the amount of silk produced or silk is under fire.

3) The properties and the processing of nylon is quiet different from cotton or wool.
