How are amide formed. ? Name two amide found in plants .

Dear student.

Amides are organic compounds which has -CONH- functional group. This functionality is generally present in proteins.

Preparation of amides can be done from carboxylic acids, acyl chlorides and acid anhydrides.

Amide preparation from carboxylic acids. Carboxylic acids are first converted to ammonium salt and these ammonium salts are heated to form amides.

Ethanoic acid reacts with ammonium carbonate forming ammonium ethanoate.

On heating ammonium ethanoate, it decomposes to give ethanamide.

Proteins such as prolamins are found in cereals, nuts, legumes etc. Within the protein amide bond is present.

Regards.
