HOW ARE GREEN PLANTS AND NON GREEN PLANTS DIFFERENT FROM EACH OTHER THAN THEIR COLOUR DIFFERENCE ?

Green plants have dominant pigment chlorophyll Non green plants have other pigments like xanthophylls, carotenoids dominant.
Green plants are always autotrophic Non green plants may be autotrophic or heterotrophic (e.g, parasitic plant like Cuscuta).

Green plants have a pigment called chlorophyll while the non green plants do not have this pigment. There is also difference in their strength and amount of sunlight received. There is also difference in the season they change their colour.

we refer 'green plants' as plants which can perform photosynthesis and prepare their own food. the 'non-green plants' are the plants which cannot prepare their own food.
