How are hormones classified based on their chemical nature? Give examples for each.

Hormones are classified on the basis of their chemical nature as :

1) Steroid Hormones: Made up of Lipids. Example: Testosterone, Estrogens
2) Amine Hormones: Made up of Amine group. Example: T3, T4.
3) Peptide Hormones: Made up of Amino acid residues. Example: Oxytocin
4) Glyco-protien  Hormones: Made up of carbohydrates conjugated with Proteins. Example: LH, TSH.
5) Eicosanoids Hormones: Made up of fatty acids. Example: Prostaglandins.
