How are monoclonal antibodies related to immunotherapy?

Dear student,

Monoclonal antibodies are immune cells which are similar and derived by cell division from a single ancestral cell. They recognise and bind to antigens in order to discriminate between specific epitopes and provides protection against diseases. They help immune system recognise the cancer cells by attaching themselves to cancer cells which makes it easier for the immune cells to recognise the cancer cells and hence destroy them. This process is called antibody-dependent cell-mediated cytotoxicity or ADCC.

Thanks and regards.
