How are the children of Samoan island different from children of Madhya Pradesh?

Dear Student,

The main difference between children in Samoa and children in Madhya Pradesh was that in Samoa, there was little emphasis on children going to school in Samoa. Instead, from around the age of five, Samoan children learnt household chores and how to look after younger children. Samoan children were hardly looked after by their parents. Instead, they were looked after by their elder siblings.

In contrast, in Madhya Pradesh, there was an emphasis on sending children to school. Government policy put great importance on schooling for children. It was recognized that children should not be doing household work or looking after their younger siblings.
