how can a mountain range influence a country's climate?

A mountain range can influence a country's climate

1. by preventing cold winds from other places from entering the country. For example, the Himalayas prevent the cold wind from Central Asia from reaching India.

2. By determining which part of a region receives rainfall. A mountain has a windward side and a leeward side. The windward side receives rainfall. For example, the western side of the Western Ghats (the west coast of India) receives a lot of rainfall because it is on the windward side. On the other hand, the interior parts of Tamil Nadu and Karnataka does not receive much rainfall because it is on the leeward side.
