how can hydrogen gas be stable all though two electrons are needed in the first shell but but according to the octet rule we need 8 electrons for the atom to be stble

Dear student,

There is an exception to the octet rule that the maximum electrons that can be filled in first shell is 2.

Hence hydrogen gas H2 is stable by sharing their single electrons with each other and be stable with two electrons in the first shell.
