How can we identify that a bottle contains chalk powder or cornflour , both are also immiscible with water ?

Dear student,

Chalk powder is immiscible with water if a chalk powder is present in the solution then on adding small drops of concentrated hydrochloric acid fizz sound comes and carbon dioxide gas is released, which confirms the presence of chalk powder.

Cornflour powder is also immiscible with water, but it is distinguished by its colour, it is slightly yellow to white in colour and when added with water it will stick to the container.
