How can we identify which sentence is imperative and which sentence is declarative

An imperative sentence is a sentence that gives instructions, orders, commands or advice.
For example -- Sit down please.           Shut the door.
A declarative sentence is one that is in the form of a statement.
For example-- I like to eat cherries.                You can take the help of your friend to do your homework.
