Fill the measuring cylinder upto a mark (m1) level. Put the stone in it. Read the mark (m2) now. Subtract m1 from m2 .The answer is the volume of the stone.

For example...

a measuring cylinder is filled upto - 40 mm (m1)

After the stone is put in it..

the mark rises to - 45 mm (m2)

now subtract m1 from m2

or, m2 - m1 = 45 - 40 = 40

Therefore the volume of the stone is 5mm3.
