How can we say that atomic number is equal to number of protons in an atom??Any proof!!!

Dear Student
Atomic number is equal to number of protons in any atom. A neutral atom has equal number of protons and electrons present it. Now the electrons can be lost or gained but not protons so electrons are not used to determine atomic number. Also there are some compounds (called as isotopes) where the atomic number is same but mass number is different. In these substance the number of protons is same. Hence we can say that atomic number=number of protons.

Atomic number means the number of electrons and protons are present in it.As we know that every atom consist of same no. of protons and electrons, also the atom has a cell in which neutron (uncharged particles)+protons are present and it doesn't matter if you count no. of electrons to find atomic number or no. of protons.

the cell should be replaced by nucleus please
