discriminate between its citizens on this ground According to the
Constitution, the objectives of a secular state are:

dominate other members of the same religious community
that the State does not
enforce any particular religion nor take away the religious freedom
of individuals

The Indian state
functions to uphold secularism in many ways The offices of
government institutions are not supposed to display any sign of
religious affiliation The Indian state practices non-interference
in religious matters in order to respect religious sentiments This
includes making exception for certain religions in matters of faith
However, the state also interferes to eliminate discrimination in
certain cases, e g abolishing untouchability
