how can you classify skeletal system
Dear Student
The main components of skeletal system are bones, cartilage, ligaments, tendons and joints.
These are of two main types:
1)The axial skeleton is comprised of vertebral column, rib cage and skull. The appendicular skeleton, is attached to the axial skeleton, and comprised of pectoral girdles, pelvic girdle and the bones of the upper and lower limbs.
2) The axial skeleton is fused, whereas the appendicular skeleton is not fused.
3) Axial skeleton maintains balance, posture whereas appendicular skeleton helps in locomotion and many functions like feeding, reproduction etc.
