how degraded Sal forest of arabari forest range in Midnapore district were protected what ways were followed to save them who was the person behind it

Arabari or Arabari Forest Range, is defined the name of a forest range in the West Midnapore district of West Bengal, India. Conservation efforts were started  in 1972 by an Indian Forest Service officer Shri Ajit Kumar Banerjee.
Sal forest of arabari forest range in Midnapore district were protected by following various ways

To protect the  sal forests the forest department first stop the traditional methods of villagers which leads to the conflicts or debates between Villagers and govt. officials and many more conflicts.
So, at last Forest department changed its Strategy to Revive the forests
A forest officer A.K. Benerajee, involved villagers to protect the badly degraded land of sal forest. In return back, govt. provides the villagers employment in Siviculture and Harvesting Operation also allowed fuelwood and fodder collection on payment of a Nominal fee. With the active and willing participation of the local community, the sal forests of Arabari underwent a remarkable recovery by 1983,  and the result was  that a worthless forest was valued Rs. 12.5 crore.
