How did' Bodhi Tree' get its name ?

Bodhi tree got its name from Siddhartha Gautama where he wandered for 7 years around the world after he saw the sufferings of the world and finally sat down under a peepal tree where he vowed to stay until he seeked enlightenment. He got enlightenment after seven days and he gave the name Bodhi tree or the tree of wisdom where hi he began to teach and share is new understanding. at that point he became to known as the Buddha (the awakened or the enlightened).
