Mr.Harris Crocker had cracked a joke ,which nobody had laughed on. Taplow knew he meant it to be funny , therefore laughed out of politeness. Mr. Harris had told Taplow that he was impressed on the improvement of his Latin, because only he could understand his joke in the form. He also said that Taplow could explain the joke to the others and everybody could enjoy it.
