How did 'jatis' help to differentiate society ?

With the growth of economy and society people began to require new skills which gave rise to small castes in various Varnas.Brahmanas appeared among new castes.Brahmanas categoriesed Jatis and recognised them under artisans like carpenter ,masons and Smith's.Jatis became major way of organising the society.They established a social hierarchy.On basis of Jatis different jati panchayat were formed that look after the matters of their Jatis . So basically Jatis helped in organization of the society and helped in more differentiation inorder to serve different sections in a more organized manner like for example formation of jati panchayat .
