In 1531, Francisco Pizzaro reached Peru with a small force in search of valuable treasures.He landed at Tumbes and led the army to the Andes Mountains and reached the Inca town of Cajamarca in 1532. He conspired againset the Inca ruler , ​Atahualpa. He invited the emperor to a banquet and captured him. The ruler was killed by Pizzaro and the Inca kingdom came under Spanish rule.
