HOW DID PRINT CULTURE CONNECT COMMUNITIES AND PEOPLE IN DIFFERENT PARTS OF INDIA? EXPLAIN WITH EXAMPLE

Dear Student,
The print culture helps connect communities and people in different parts of India, in the following ways :
  • Newspapers helped in conveying news from one place to another, thus creating pan-Indian ethos.
  • People were better informed and could identify with the struggle fought in some other part of the country
  • Many of the novels and stories were written during this era, talked about regions other than the native region of the writer. For example, the Bengali writer Bhudeb Mukhopadhyay’s (1827-94) Anguriya Binimoy (1857) talked about Shivaji and Aurangzeb, helping in creating pan-Indian notions
