How did Robert Hooke discovered the cell and when?

Dear Student, 
Hooke discovered first the cell to identifiy microscopic structures while discovering the cork. This discovery came into 1665. Hook actually saw the dead cells walls of plant i.e. cork.

The?cell?was firstdiscovered?and named by?Robert Hooke?in 1665. He remarked that it looked strangely similar to cellula or small rooms which monks inhabited, thus deriving the name. However what?Hooke?actually saw?was the?dead?cell?walls of plantcells?(cork) as it appeared under the microscope.
