Santosh Yadav's parents were orthodox and traditional in their way of thinking. They got her enrolled in the village school though they could afford a better city education. They pressurized Santosh to get married at the early age of sixteen, but she insisted on getting higher education and got herself enrolled in a city school. When they threatened not to pay for her fees, she informed that she was willing to work part-time to pay her fees. Gradually, her father got used to the idea of her yearning for higher education.
