Sir Simon thanked Virginia by giving her a box of beautiful jewels, which was supposed to be family heirloom. One of which, was a ruby necklace with old Venetian setting, and belonged to the sixteenth century.
When Virginia was presented as the Duchess of Cheshire at the Queen’s drawing room, her jewels were greatly admired.
