How did the Forest Acts affect the lives of foresters and villagers ?

The following points may help you:

a. For the foresters that is the  Colonial administration which  enacted Forest Acts  in the different provinces and had different notion of a forest. Through these Acts some forests which produced commercially valuable timber like deodar or sal were declared ‘Reserved’. Other forests were classified as ‘Protected’. This would help the colonists to export the wood and earn revenue.Forest management plans were made by forest officials. They planned how much of the forest had to be cut and how much had to be replanted. They promoted particular species of trees like sal, teak to meet their requirements

The British encouraged hunting as a big sport. They felt that the wild animals were savage, wild and primitive, that they had to be killed. The scale of hunting increased by the British.

However, forest dwellers were impacted,. By virtue of forest laws, s
hifting cultivation, hunting and collection of forest produce was banned. They were deprived of their customary right.

Villagers-  As a result of colonial policies,  Villagers were not allowed to access Reserved forests. Villagers needed permission for entry in the forests. The timing of their entry and departure was specified  The forest laws prohibited the villagers from hunting , those who were caught hunting were punished for poaching. It brought about huge displacement of people .Taxes were imposed on people. Grazing and hunting were restricted . People were forced to steal wood from the forest and dependant on forest guards.
