How did the narrator's grandmother appear in the potrait?

Dear student,

The narrator had always seen his grandmother as old and wrinkled. The narrator could never imagine her as a young woman.  He compares her to a winter landscape because she had been ageing but there was also a sense of peace, calm, composure on her face. Therefore, he believed that his grandmother could never had been pretty. However, he knew that his grandmother was beautiful. Beauty is an intrinsic quality. It radiates from the heart. The author was moved by his grandmother's goodness and the serenity that she radiated.
