How do other organisms except human beings maintains homeostasis or cope up with the situation??

Dear student,
Organisms other than human maintain homeostasis in various ways :
1) organisms like birds, mammals, lower invertebrates etc maintain homeostasis by Regulation. The regulation is mostly thermoregulation (ability of organisms to keep their internal temperature in a fixed narrow range) or osmoregulation (mainting salt and water concentrations in body)
Birds usually raise their metabolic rate to prevent their internal temperature from falling and minimise energy usage.
Eg: Black Vultures, excrete onto their unfeathered legs to increase heat loss by evaporation in order to maintain body temperatures.
In mammals if its too hot, they start sweating and if its too cold they start shivering to maintain body heat.
Plants do not have ability to maintain internal temperatures.

2) Some organisms have the ability to change their internal temperature according to external tempratures or their internal behaviour depends on the external factors and they are known as conformers.Conformers must change their behaviour in order to survive under extreme circumstances like they reduce their activity under harsh conditions.
Eg: activity and temperature of a snake depends on the environment it lives in.

3)Other ways by with organisms maintain homeostasis is by migration, some birds and fishes migrate in different season to a better environment in order to survive. Eg: Migratory birds from Siberia flies to Keolado National Park (Bhartpur) in rajasthan every winter.
In Some higher plants, the vegetative propagules or seeds goes in the state of dormancy by suspending their activity and when the favourable season comes back, they become active again. Activity like Hibernation during winters and aestivation in summers are examples of suspended activity of organisms to survive and maintain homeostasis.
