Addition of time :-1 Adding the hours2 Adding the minutes3 If the minutes are 60 or more , then subtracting 60 from minutes and adding 1 to hours 
For example :-4:45  +  5:30Adding hours :-4+5=9Adding minutes:-45+30=75Minutes are more than 60 
So ,Subtracting 60 from minutes 75-60=15 minutes 
Adding 1 to hours 9+1=10 hoursAnswer is 10 : 15 
Subtraction of time :-1Subtracting the hours2Subtracting the minutes3 If the minutes are negative , then adding 60 to minutes and subtracting 1 from hours 
For example :-4:15 -  2:30Subtracting hours :-4-2=2subtracting minutes:-15-30=-15Minutes are negative 
So ,Adding 60 to minutes -15+60=45 minutes 
Subtracting 1 from hours 2-1=1 hoursAnswer is 1 : 45
