how do we prepare to face monsoon

Usually in places that have heavy rains people stock up on food that will last a few days of rainy weather. Umbrellas and raincoats are taken out of storage and checked for holes, sometimes new ones have to be bought. Leakages in roof tops are repaired and measures are taken to keep the house dry during monsoon.
