How do we say that cross polinated species show inbreeding depression and not self pollinating ??? Pls explain

Dear Student,

Cross pollinating flowers do not show Inbreeding depression. Since, cross pollination leads to variation.

Only self-pollinating flowers show Inbreeding depression.

Inbreeding refers to the mating of closely related individuals within the same breed. Excessive inbreeding is the excessive mating occurs between the closely related individuals that increases the chances of expression of harmful recessive genes and results with the reduction in the fertility and productivity of an organism. This is known as Inbreeding depression or degeneration.

Inbreeding depression is shown only by the self pollinating flowers..
inbreeding depression is the disadvantage of self pollination.cross pollination does not have inbreeding depression.it results in non-variation whereas cross pollination is all about variation.
