How does an age pyramid for human population at given point of time helps the policy-makers in planning for future?

Age pyramid tells us about the expanding, stable and declining population. On the basis of the data obtained from the age pyramid policies can be made for the population by providing food to the population, improving health services etc. For example:- if the population is expanding then the policies can be made to increase production of food to meet the demand of the growing population. If the population is declining then policies can be made to improve health services and to prevent mortality rate.
