How does the Atmosphere prevents sudden increase in body temperature?

Dear Student,

I assume that you are talking about the atmosphere affecting the earth's temperature and not the body temperature.

The atmosphere is basically air. Air is known to be a bad conductor of heat. During daytime, when hot rays from the sun strike the earth, the heat is poorly radiated and takes time to penetrate through, thus the temperature of the earth is mostly stable despite its distance from the sun. Sudden rise in temperature is thus prevented. During the night time, the same atmosphere acts as a blanket, it does not let the captured heat escape, thus keeping the temperature stable even during the night. That is how the atmosphere regulates the temperature of the earth..
