How does the attitude of the poet differ absolutely from that of the man with the stick

Dear student,

The poet shows respect towards the snake that has come to his water trough to quench its thirst. he considers it a guest and admires its beauty and elegant movement. he knows that green, thin snakes are not venomous and he feels comfortable with its presence.
But, the poem presents two divergent views: the poet later becomes the man with the stick who thinks that all snakes are a threat. he feels that the snake poses real danger and throws a stick at it to harm it.
