How does the author describethe mental state of Centerville Ghost (chapter 5)

Dear student

After the constant torment that the ghost faced at the hands of the twins, he became very nervous. The ghost became very weak and tired. The terrible atrocities caused by the twins shattered his nerves completely and he was startled by even the slightest of noises. When he was out dressed as, "Jonas the Graveless, or the Corpse-Snatcher of Chertsey Barn", the twins merely had to jump out of a dark corner shouting boo!, and the ghost ran away frightened out of his wits.
