how does the fringe width of interference fringes change,when thw whole apparatus of Young's experiment is kept in liquid of refractive index 1.33??

the fringe width will decrease. because the refractive index of water is 1.33 and the wavelength of the monochromatic light will change from λ to λ/1.33  . so the fringe width will decrease from λD/d to λD/1.33d

when the apparatus is in air

βair  = Dλ / d

when it is immersed in water,the wavelength of light deacreases to λ/μ

therefore, βwater   = Dλ / μd

hence, βwater/βair = 1/μ
