How does the Indian Constitution makes equality the bedrock of Indian polity?

Dear Student,

The Constitution of India makes social and civil equality the bedrock of Indian polity.  Article 15 A guarantees equality of all persons before the law. This law prohibits discrimination on grounds of religion, race, caste, sex or place of birth as between citizens, and abolishes untouchability. On the other hand Article 17 declares that untouchability is abolished and its practice in any form is forbidden.
